Global Map of WiMAX Deployments

The WiMAX Forum maintains a Global Map of WiMAX Deployments on its website. The map displays markets with fixed architecture (IEEE Standard 802.16d), as well as markets with wireless connectivity (IEEE standard 802.16e), with different color pins. Searches can be filtered by fixed/wireless systems, frequency band (such as 2.5 GHz and/or 3.5 GHz), equipment supplier (for example, Alvarion and Motorola), and status of service (e. g. , in deployment, or in service). Below you will find an explanation of the interactive features of this map from the WiMAX Forum website.

Welcome to WiMAX Maps!

WiMAX Maps is an interactive WiMAX deployment mapping database provided by WiMAX Forum and powered by Informa Telecoms & Media’s World Cellular Information Service (WCIS). Built using the familiar Google Maps API, this tool is meant to serve the industry as a comprehensive resource featuring information on the many WiMAX deployments across the globe. Through WiMAX Maps we hope to heighten awareness of the true strength of the WiMAX ecosystem, and make information on WiMAX’s global position easier to find. Below you will find some important information guiding you in the use of this intuitive database. We hope that you enjoy WiMAX Maps, please direct any feedback you may have to the following address: deploymentdata @ wimaxforum.org.

How to Read WiMAX Maps

WiMAX Maps opens with all global deployments showing

The location of each pin represents the location of a deployment’s headquarters. There is only one pin per country per operator.

Example: Clearwire launched WiMAX service under the Clear brand in the U. S. cities of Baltimore and Portland. However the Clearwire pin is located at the Clearwire headquarters in Washington. Future revisions of this tool will include more detailed location data.

Each pin has a field letting you know when that specific deployment’s information was last updated. There is also a grey bar at the bottom letting you know when the last general update was.

For information on a specific deployment just click on the pin.

Red pins represent 802.16d fixed WiMAX deployments.

Yellow pins represent
802.16e mobile WiMAX deployments.

To drill down into the data, press the clear pins button, then open the floating box of “drawers” and check the boxes for the categories that you wish to appear on the map.

To start over press the reset pins button.
