WAP 400 Access Point

wi4 WiMAX WAP 400 Access Point with light infrastructure for flexible deployments and Multi-input/Multi-output (MIMO) antenna techniques

Motorola's WAP 400 Access Point delivers on the performance and cost advantages of 802.16e mobile WiMAX, standards-based wireless broadband. Featuring highly integrated and flexible design as well as enhanced RF capabilities, the WAP 400 is an ideal solution for fixed and mobile service applications. The WAP 400 demonstrates great capacity gain in high scattering conditions such as urban environments - increasing the system capacity by nearly twofold. The WAP 400's light design offers flexible deployment options on roof tops, pole mountings, water towers and more. This results in significant savings in operating and site costs.

High Performing

The WAP 400, featuring diversity antenna techniques, is based on the IEEE 802.16e-2005 technology standard and includes spectrally efficient S-OFDMA interface, low latency performance, and IP based architecture. Enhanced system gain supported by diversity MIMO antenna capabilities allows strong indoor penetration as well as support for cellular-like mobility applications. Additionally, QoS capabilities, security features, and redundancy options make the WAP 400 platform a true carrier-class solution.

Fixed & Mobile Application

The WAP 400 access point provides Non-Line-of-Sight, fixed and mobile wireless broadband connections. Paired with a common IP core, the WAP 400 Access Point will support seamless inter-technology handovers.

Ease of Installation and Management

Motorolas design philosophy for the WiMAX product portfolio focuses on ease of installation, management and operation. The WAP 400 Series features small, zero-footprint base sites with an all-outdoors design and flexible mounting options for both the RF Modules and the Base Control Unit.

Reduced CAPEX

The WAP 400 Access Point system benefits from an integrated design that reduces real estate requirements and allows for simple connections between components. Flexible hardware and software programmable radios provide the benefit of no-touch software updates. Integrated RF antenna design eliminates the need for costly and heavy coaxial cables between antennas and baseband modules and avoids power losses associated with heavy RF cabling.

Reduced OPEX

The WAP 400 has been designed as IP end-to-end. The network architecture eliminates high-cost centralized boxes, simplifies management, and reduces core transport costs. Connectivity to standard IP equipment allows operators to realize significant cost advantages.

wi4 WiMAX

Motorolas wi4 WiMAX portfolio of 802.16e products and services offers industry leading breadth and depth, allowing us to map the right architecture to meet an operators specific deployment issues. Recognizing that a true end-to-end solution extends beyond the access network, Motorolas wi4 WiMAX solutions deliver an extensive portfolio of compelling devices and handsets, operations and management tools, integration and optimization services and, most important, the confidence to bring WiMAX to market.

WAP 450 Access Point

Wi4 WiMAX WAP 450 Access Point for enhanced coverage and capacity with a compact, high-power, carrier class design

The WAP 450 Access Point features flat IP architecture and optional peer-to-peer configuration for fast handoffs and low latency. This allows you to offer end-users seamless, rich media experiences that are optimized for mobility. The WAP 450’s dynamic broadband capability mitigates interference and dynamically changes capacity between the cell edge and the core as the network expands. In addition, the WAP 450 features a compact, 4G base control unit which is Motorola’s common broadband platform for both WiMAX and LTE. It is designed to consume less power while still delivering high power, dynamic broadband capabilities. The WAP 450 is WiMAX Forum®, 802.16e Wave 2 Certification ready.

Enhanced Coverage & Capacity

The WAP 450 is built with MIMO A & MIMO B, multiple antenna technologies that provide superior capacity and coverage in rural, suburban and urban environments. With Remote RF head design and high-power output to 10 watts per sector at the antenna ports, the WAP 450 is comparable to a 20 watt, ground based solution that looses power due to coaxial cable loss. With this power, the WAP 450 still provides enhanced capacity and coverage for thousands of subscribers, even with high downlink usage.

Reduced CAPEX / OPEX

The WAP 450 reduces costs by using only a simple fiber connection between the RF Antenna head and the base control unit. With ultra-light infrastructure and no heavy coaxial cables, the WAP 450 can be deployed by a single person and requires less ongoing maintenance. Fast deployment and reduced resource requirements result in faster return on investment compared to typical base stations.

The high power WAP 450 incorporate high receive sensitivity which also allows operators to reduce overall CAPEX and OPEX by deploying fewer access points compared to similar solutions. AT the same time, it provides higher bit rates to users throughout the coverage area. In addition, the WAP 450 is equipped with a compact base control unit, which is Motorola’s common broadband platform for both WiMAX and LTE. This new base control unit takes 80% lower site space, consumes less power and further reduces the operators’ capital and operating costs. Finally, with no-touch software upgrade capabilities, remote software enhancements can be accomplished with minimum operating costs.

Carrier Class Solution

Motorola’s WAP 450 is a carrier class solution that has global regulatory compliance and high availability. As the WiMAX network expands, interference and noise increases. The WAP 450 comes with a dynamic broadband capability feature that mitigates interference and dynamically changes capacity between the cell edge and the core as the network expands. These dynamic broadband capabilities continue to give service providers a high performance not only during the initial coverage stage but also during the capacity and network expansion stages.

The WAP 450 is available for selectable channel bandwidths, and is available in multiple WiMAX profiles, including 2.3GHz, 2.5GHz and 3.5GHz.
